ABOUT US
RefinED Character nurtures teams — teams of students and adults seeking to elevate the student experience for present and future generations.
We recognize lectures don’t build teams. To that end, our educational opportunities combine experiential learning, meaningful dialogue, and collective action planning.
Most importantly, we meet students and educators on their developmental level, grounding our work in the latest sociological, brain-based theory and practice.
"The Science of Character" from the VIA Institute on Character opens our eyes to why character education is vital and how core SEL skills can be nurtured and taught.
Scott Heydt is the Founder and President of RefinED Character. Scott is an experienced educator of 20 years, with service as a classroom teacher, educational consultant, and collegiate instructor.
Trained in Responsive Classroom principles and committed to whole child education, Scott teaches graduate level courses through Neumann University, which are part of a Masters in Education with a Focus on Social Emotional Learning degree.
